Chapter Twenty-nine, Oscar Goes Home

When Oscar woke, he felt dreadful again but after a shower and breakfast he was feeling much better now. He had made the decision as to what he was going to do next during breakfast and he had his plan all worked out.

He got straight on the phone to Teddy Bradshaw, to make all of the arrangements to gain the Artifact for the British Secret Service. He also made the arrangements to retrieve all of the surveillance equipment from Ray and Dona's apartment, when they left.  He then made his plans to get home, although he would go and see Ray and Dona first, to say goodbye.

Dona was up showered and ready but Ray was still in bed, having a nice relaxing rest, he wasn't sleeping just lying there thinking.  There was a knock on the door and Dona answered to fine Oscar stood there.  She let him in and shouted to Ray to see if he was ready, Ray shouted back that he was just in the shower.  Ray then get up and straight into the shower.

When Ray came out Dona and Oscar were sitting talking and Dona turned to Ray and said that Oscar had to leave.

"Yes that is right" said Oscar "just got a call and I have to move on back to England.  Sorry about tonight but I have to go, I hope we can meet up again sometime".

"That's a real shame Oscar we will miss you tonight but if you have to leave, you have to leave" said Ray "we could swap addresses but you know that never works.  Although I really would love to see you again sometime".

Oscar said "Since meeting you two I have decided to ask my girl friend if she will marry me and I would love to have you at the wedding if she says yes".

"Wow that's fantastic Oscar" said Dona "and we would love to come if she says yes and I can not see why she wouldn't".

They did swap addresses, although Oscar gave a company address, he was not sure what they would think about him after the Artifact was taken from them.  Although they never had to know it was him who had arranged it all.

Oscar drove to the airport at La Rochelle and set of home to make plans.

Ray and Dona spent the rest of the day sat in the garden lounging in the sun and making plans for themselves.  The ferry home was very early on Friday morning so Ray arranged for them to stay in Bayeux on Thursday night.  Bayeux was closer to the ferry terminal at Caen witch was actually at Ouistreham but it was called Cane. That was sad as they would not see David and Anna but it was bast for them. They would have to let them know of their plans tonight.

Dona said she would go and get packed if they were going tomorrow but Ray said not to bother, they would have time in the morning and to just sit in the sun.  Dona just looked at Ray and went in to pack, Ray sat for a moment, then went in to help.

After about half and hour, with everything packed  away, Ray asked Dona what she fancied for tea. Dona said that she wasn't bothered, so Ray said that he felt like Piri Piri Chicken. Dona just looked at him again, then asked where he was going to find Piri Piri Chicken. Ray said that Portugal sounded like a good place to find Piri Piri Chicken. Dona sighed, then said "where do you want to go?".

Sat in the restaurant in Alvor, Portugal, with a bottle of Sagres beer waiting for their Piri Piri Chicken to arrive, Ray was smiling. They could go wherever they wanted to, they had only been to Portugal once before, but here they were again.  It was a dream come true, as long as they had the money to eat they could do this forever as long as they were careful.  Ray looked at Dona and she looked happy as well.

Soon their meal arrived and even if it wasn't the best in the world, it was Piri Piri Chicken in Portugal and it was very nice indeed. Ray also had another bottle of Sagres beer, Dona was drinking red wine and was well though the bottle by now.

After the food there was still time for a walk before they had to be back to meet up with David and Anna.  So they made there way down to the bay, had a nice quiet walk along the front and as there was still time made their way to the sea before jumping back to their apartment.

In the bar that night with David and Anna, Ray and Dona made apologies for Oscar and explained that they would be off in the morning as well but said that they were sure David and Anna would have a fantastic time as they had all done. Ray said how Oscar had to rush off back to England but that he was sorry to go.

David and Anna had been into Rochefort for a visit that day and that got Ray very interested, explaining to them, how they had been there during this holiday.  David and Anna had also been to see the Transporter and then moved on to see the Pont de Tonnay-Charente, in Tonnay-Charente, David was a bridge lover.

That set Ray off and they talked about bridges for quite a wile, Dona and Anna both sighed and talked between themselves and left the boys to it. The night then just carried on very enjoyably, eventually with story's of past trips, until it was time for bed.

Ray and Dona wished David and Anna all the best for the rest of their holiday and then headed back to their apartment, for a sleep before the long drive to Bayeux tomorrow.
