Chapter Twenty-eight

Day Twelve, Oscars Last Night

Back in their apartment, wile Dona had a shower, Ray sat and wondered about what Oscar had said about being in Pateley Bridge. It was all too much of a coincidence, Oscar must know something about the Artifact or was it all just an amazing twist.  Should he try and find out this evening, or should he just keep quiet about it all.

Ray was sat just looking at the Artifact when Dona came out of the shower, "what are you thinking about" said Dona "and before you answer, remember that you have to get reddy to go out fairly quickly to meet up with Oscar".

"It was Oscar I was thinking about" replied Ray "pretty strange him being in Pateley Bridge just before coming over here, what do you think".

Dona said "It dose seem very strange but if he was working it could just be a coincidence, I like Oscar so let's just go and meet up I'm very thirsty, so you go and get ready".

"You could be right, I had better just go and get ready then" Ray said and disappeared into the shower.

Oscar had been watching Ray and working out in his head just what he was going to do next. There were many things that he did not know about the Artifact but he had seen it work and there was plenty of time latter on to test all of that. After all he did know everything that was possible to know about them and even though they could just disappear, he doubted very much that they would.  He decided that tonight would just be for a fun time and drinking, the rest could wait for tomorrow.

Dona had come back into the room, Oscar listened to what they had to say, he smiled to himself and then disappeared into the shower also.

Ray and Dona were already drinking when Oscar arrived, they had even bought a drink for him, so he just sat down, said thank you and sipped his drink.  They had all decided just to enjoy the night so that is what they did.

The first thing they did was to order some food but only something light, as lunch had been fairly filling, so a salad each was just enough.  They talked all the way through their supper and each of them found that they were really enjoying the company of the others.  Oscar started to think about what he was going to do but pushed it out his mind until tomorrow.  

Another couple sat close to them and Ray could not help himself and started talking to them.  They were not from the UK but were Dutch, here on holiday just like Ray and Dona.  The Dutch couple, David and Anna, were slightly older than Ray and Dona and spoke very good English indeed.

Eventually the Dutch couple moved tables and joined the others.  As they had only arrived the previous day, Ray took the opportunity to offer advise on where to visit for the rest of their holiday but Dona though told him to be quiet.  She explained that they could find their own places to visit, that's what they did, didn't they.  Ray agreed and apologized for being so pushy but he was just trying to be helpful.  David and Anna just laughed and said it was fine.

The evening went on very well, with all of them enjoying each others company and the drinks may have helped somewhat.  Ray even managed to give advise on where to visit, until it was getting very late. David and Anna asked it they would be here tomorrow night and the others said that they usually where.  "Well that's a date then, we will see you tomorrow" they said and made their exit.

"Its about time we all made our way home for the night" said Dona.

"After the next drink then" said Ray, "and then we will all be ready for bed and a nice sleep"

Oscar ordered the drinks and they were, the last ones of the night.

After saying goodnight Oscar crossed the park to his room and the other two walked off back to their apartment.  Back in his room Oscar was going to check up on the other two but didn't bother and collapsed into bed.   Ray and Dona did almost the same, only Ray checked the Artifact first and it was still there, as safe as he left it.
