Chapter Twenty-one

Day Nine, Planting the Bugs

Oscar received his delivery of bugs and monitoring equipment early and got it all sorted out ready to plant in Ray and Dona's apartment and garden.  It was still early though so he went down for some breakfast.  He had to give time for Ray and Dona to go out for the day, then he would see what he could find out.

As usual Steve and Janet were already sat at their breakfast table and gestured Oscar to come sit with them.  As he could not think of a way round it, he joined them for breakfast, he really was too nice, most of the time.  Steve and Janet were off for another drive today with a visit to La Rochelle and their lunch in the main square of the old town.  Oscar said that it all sounded very good indeed but refused an offer to go with them, saying that he still had work to do here.

About an hour later, Steve and Janet had gone on their trip and Oscar set off out, with all he needed in a simple Carrefour carrier bag.  He had the large carrier bag delivered along with the surveillance equipment.  He walked passed Ray and Dona apartment had a quick look around, their car had gone so he turned back and knocked on the front door.

Back in this room, Oscar checked all of the equipment and it was working fine.  He had good views of all of the rooms (except the bathroom and toilet he had some respect for them), this modern gear was really good.  He even had a couple of cameras out the back in the garden, he was careful where he put them but he didn't expect Ray and Dona to even think they were being watched.

Now all he had to do now was wait, he didn't expect them back for a wile so, he set it all on auto and went for a drive.

He only drove over the bridge to Bourcefranc-le-Chapus, to see if he could get to the the sea fort he has seen yesterday, Fort Louvois. Over the bridge he got parked up on the front, close to the old railway station and walked over towards the old ferry departure point, a long pier far out into the channel to where it became became deep.  Now closed since the bridge had been built but it was still there.

The tide was out so the walkway to Fort Louvois was open and as he had time, he wandered out to have a good look.  It was less than 8€ entrance fee, Oscar though this to be very cheap and he went in for a look around.

After his visit to the fort Oscar had a wander around the port and then walked into the restaurant on the end, La Terminus, for a meal and a drink.
